The Sunday after Easter is sometimes called Low Sunday (suggesting that we all might be exhausted from Easter celebrations), but we have an excellent Sunday planned. At 9.30 am and 4.00 pm, in view of Anzac Day, I am preaching on the fight for Christian freedom.
We held six services over the Easter weekend – one on Maundy Thursday, two on Good Friday and three on Easter Sunday. All went well. At our Maundy Thursday dinner, it was very illuminating to hear from our special guests from Christian Witness to Israel, about the ways in which Jewish Passover traditions – even those introduced in the last 2000 years – point to Jesus being the Messiah. On Good Friday it was wonderful to have the help of beautiful music from the choir to reflect on the death of our Saviour. Easter Sunday 4 pm was a big success again, and the children were grateful to have so many eggs to hunt for. In the end, the total count was over 1200. Thank you.
I would like to let you know about an opportunity to participate in an inter-generational program at St Nicolas Coogee Preschool. This is open to everyone over 65 who meets certain criteria. See here for more information.
In brief:

- Kathryn and I are hosting a Newcomers’ Lunch next Sunday, 1st May, at 11.30 am, following the morning services. This is for everyone who has joined St Jude’s in the last year or so, as well as anyone who happens to be new on the day. Looking forward to seeing you there.
