We gather to glorify God, to pray, to hear and learn from God’s word, to encourage each other, and to show the world that our Creator is valuable enough for us to spend time “about his business” (Luke 2:49 KJV). This week we are returning to our sermon series in 1 Corinthians.
Some sad news is that our office administrator, Stéphanie Tse Kai Wai, is finishing up at St Jude’s next week. Friday will be her last day. Everyone who has phoned, emailed or dropped in at the office over the last few years will be familiar with Steph’s friendly and efficient help. It has been a blessing from God to have her as part of our team. We will be holding a farewell morning tea this Thursday, 10 am in the Parish Room. If you can, please come along so that we can thank Steph for her friendship and support, and to pray for her in her next chapter.
If you’re new today or in recent weeks, please stay on after morning service for a Newcomer Lunch in the rectory at 11.30 am. This is a good chance to meet other people who are newish, and to hear about my vision for our church and how you can get more involved, and feel more at home.
Our Life of Jesus course is about to start. It is this Monday evening, 7.30 pm. It approaches the claims of Jesus from an historical perspective using a video and discussion time. Great for regulars and invitees. We will be meeting in the church, using the side chapel space, which is great for a video and discussion time.
In brief:
- There is a Working Bee next Saturday, 7th May, 8.30 am.
- We’ve decided to run a special All Day Kids’ Club this coming Wednesday because of the teachers’ strike. Please pray for as safe and fun day growing everyone closer to Jesus.
- I’d also appreciate your prayers as I travel up to Queensland for General Synod from next Sunday, 8th May – both for safe travel and for the deliberations of the Synod itself.
- Not long away now is our next big community event, the Fireworks (and BBQ) on Saturday 4th June. Save the date and invite friends!
