Sunday 6th November

We were blessed with a great congregation and perfect weather last Sunday for our special service for St Jude’s Day.  I really enjoyed both the service and lunch afterwards.  It was great to see so many people of all ages frolicking in the church grounds, with tug-of-war and games of Finska.  Thanks to everyone who helped with set-up, pack-up, cooking, serving and being part of a wonderful atmosphere.  I was very grateful to God for the day.

On Saturday, 12th November is our Hymn Fest and Music on the Lawn.  It starts in the church at 11 am with a Hymn Fest (lots of singing!), after which we will spill out of the church onto the lawn.  There are Devonshire Teas in the Parish Room.  On the lawn, we will hear from the Botany Bay Band and Silverbeat ukulele group.  There will also be a craft and a second-hand jewellery stall.  It should be a great atmosphere.  I hope you can come and invite along anyone who would enjoy these activities.

In brief:

  • Thanks to everyone who brought in an Operation Christmas Child gift, and who will join in saturday’s Working Bee!
  • The funeral service for Fred Orr will be held at St Jude’s on Friday, 11th November at 11 am.  Fred contributed a lot to our parish life over the last few decades and is very sadly missed.
  • Don’t forget to enjoy a walk in the graveyard while the flowers are in bloom.  It does looks amazing right now!

Yours,
Andrew Schmidt
