This is a week of momentous news for our beloved Robinson family. As many will know from last Sunday or from the news filtering through during the week, Martin and Emma’s second son, Isaac Andrew Robinson was born last Saturday evening, weighing in at 3.68 kg and measuring 52 cm. We had been praying for this and are now giving thanks to God for his kindness to them and to all of us in giving life to Isaac.
On a sadder note, I have to break the news that Marty, Emma, Levi and Isaac will be leaving us at the end of the year, as Marty commences full time study towards a PhD through Moore College. His topic will be in trinitarian theology, and I think his research is destined to be of great benefit to God’s church. The disappointing part is that these plans mean Marty having to finish up his role here at St Jude’s.
I feel very grateful to God for everything Marty and Emma have done in establishing new things and reaching out to new people with the good news of Jesus over these two years. We need to pray for this to be sustained over the coming months, and for God to send us someone who will be able to continue this work next year.
In brief:
- The Stand for Life rally, an opportunity to show support for the unborn, in opposition to the abortion bill currently before the NSW Parliament, is on at 30-5.00 pm this afternoon, at the Archibald Fountain, Hyde Park.
- The annual New College Lectures (24-26 September) are an excellent event, this year featuring the Anglican and Catholic Archbishops. Please pick up a brochure and come along.
- Our women’s High Tea yesterday was fully booked, with fifty women enjoying food, fellowship and encouragement from God’s word. Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen!
