Next Sunday 25th October is our St Jude’s Day Spring Picnic. Church is at 10 am, followed by lunch in the graveyard. For COVID safe reasons, it is a BYO picnic. There will also be games for children and youth. Please RSVP to the church office, and come along. It’s also a great week to invite someone to church. I will be speaking from Luke’s gospel on Zacchaeus, the not-very-tall tax collector who unexpectedly found friendship with Jesus.
Many will by now have heard the sad news that Captain Michael Mortimer passed away last Sunday evening. Michael was a warden and parish nominator here at St Jude’s for many years, and has lived in one of our townhouses on The Avenue since it was built in 2001. He was a great servant of the parish and will be sadly missed. His funeral will be held here this coming Tuesday, 20th October at 10.30 am.
In brief:
- Simply Christianity is on again in November. It’s a great introduction or refresher to the gospel. Please come along and invite a friend. See inside for more details.
- We have a guest preacher coming on Sunday 1 November, Mark Landrum from Christian Witness to Israel. I am looking forward to hearing him.
- In Anglican politics, you may be aware that the Sydney synod was not able to be held this year due to COVID-19. Elections were held online. I was pleased to be elected as one of our diocese’s representatives on General Synod, which is the synod for the Australia-wide Anglican church.
