With Spring now in the air, it is a positive time of year, but at the same time it can no longer be denied that 2026 is flying by. What did you say you’d get done this year that you haven’t yet started? Perhaps this is the year that you re-connected with church. Great! Or is this the year that you said you’d get going with that regular prayer and Bible reading habit? Well, there is still time!
At the time of writing, we are gearing up for the Day Away, and I’m pleased at the number coming, the weather forecast and the material from our guest speaker Dr Mark Earngey. It promises to be a great day of teaching, fellowship and enjoying God’s creation.
There is plenty of news this week, in short snippets:
- Confirmation is next Sunday. Bishop Michael Stead will be with us at our 4.00 pm service for the confirmation of Bryan Whitaker and Tom Lord. I hope that our morning service regulars might plan to come twice that day (and you will hear two different sermons).
- Sydney Synod starts this week. Please pray for Edwina and me as we represent our parish in this important gathering from across the Diocese. It is generally an encouraging and thought-provoking time.
- We have issued a fresh new job advertisement for a female Pastoral Worker, a role that has been vacant in our team since the start of the year. It would be great for us to pray that God will send us the person we need in this role.
- After confirmation, our next big event is the St Jude’s Day combined 10.30 am service on Sunday 25th This is a family style celebration service and is followed by a picnic lunch in the graveyard. Please put on your calendar!
- Congratulations to our own St Jude’s Early Learning, which won the Sustainability Award at the Randwick City Business Excellence Awards on Wednesday night!
