This Sunday is a very special occasion. We are giving thanks to God for his wonderful provision to us of a new slate roof (completed late last year). We welcome Archbishop Kanishka Raffel, with his wife Cailey, to dedicate the roof.
It is all about the simple act of recognising a gift of God, giving thanks for it, and committing to use it for his glory. God provided richly, through the gifts of congregation members, to make this half-million dollar project possible. It was very much needed, and now secures the use of the building for the people of God to gather in for the next 150 years. If we are truly grateful, then God’s gift lays it upon our conscience that the beautiful St Jude’s building must be used purely for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, as his people gather here under the authority of his life-giving word in the Scriptures.
We are already prayerfully thinking about the next restoration project, which is to replace the slate roofs of the rectory and church office (Old Borough Chambers).
Some other important news:
- Our Annual Vestry Meeting is next Sunday, 20th March, 11.30 am. Please plan to be there, to hear encouraging reports about the ministry of the last year, and to elect important office holders for the coming year.
- Next Sunday, we move back to two morning services at 8 am and 9.30 am. If you are joining us online, we will be streaming the 8 am service only. This will also be available as a YouTube recording later in the day.
- Easter is fast approaching. Our Easter invitation cards will soon be here. This year, our Maundy Thursday dinner will be an extra special event, as we are joined by Mark Landrum from Christian Witness to Israel, who will lead us through a Passover meal, showing us the ways in which it points to Jesus.
