What's happening at St Jude's?
English as a Second Language Ministry

Here at St Judes we embrace people from all cultural backgrounds. We are especially interested in supporting people who were born overseas and are having difficulty with English. The ESL ministry at St Jude's has been running for 10 years. We now offer a range of study opportunities for speakers of other languages. These include:

An English language class (all levels accepted, currently we have a majority at 'Intermediate' level). Living in Australia can be difficult, lonely, and a little bit scary to speak with native Australians. We aim to build the confidence of our students for living in Australia, we focus on language areas that will assist them in daily life. The class concludes with an optional 15min Bible reading and discussion.
Thursday 9:30am-12:00pm

An English language Bible study: The Bible is the most influential book in Western civilization. This group aims to understand it. It will help all students to appreciate Western culture at a deeper level. We explore parts of the Bible in a logical manner. We also think about  its message for our lives. The Bible study is in easy English.
Monday 10:00-11:30am

A Christianity forum: after Bible study we spend 30 mins of free question time, where one of our ministers answers questions to do with Christianity, and/or leads a discussion on large passages within the Bible.
Monday 11:30am-12:00pm
