New Bells
In the year 2000 a project was undertaken to replace the old timber bell frame with a metal frame, and to replace the old bells. New bells were ordered and cast by John Taylor and Sons in Loughborough UK, shipped to Australia and processed into Randwick with bands, Town Crier and Bishop.
The bells were hung in the tower and first rung on 9th December 2000.
Below is the Text of the Service held outside the Church after the Bells were processed into Randwick with Town Crier and Band, for the:

1PM WELCOME AND HALLOWING BEGINS
Singing of National Anthem
Australians all let us rejoice
for we are young and free.
With golden soil and wealth for toil
Our home is girt by sea.
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
of beauty rich and rare.
In history's page let every stage
Advance Australia fair!
Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We'll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia fair.
The Mayor, Councillor Dominic Sullivan welcomes the Bells to the city of
Randwick.

Older Bells
The Old bells are struck individually
We the Bells of St Jude's have been driven by the wind across the world on
slender ship to find our home by the beautiful New South Wales coast, on
Frenchman's Road the oldest road in the colony, that linked the Aboriginal
peoples, the French and the English .
We have ascended the high tower and rung out since 1865, proclaiming worship
and matrimony, birth and death.
Our hearts are always merry but our steel bodies and creaking wooden joints
have grown weary and sometimes miss a beat or a tune.
You the new arrivals of copper and tin from the John Taylor Foundry have
also traversed the vast ocean, travelling so far under different stars to
those above where you were formed.
Rest a while beneath these friendly walls, enjoy the attention and be refreshed.
then ascend the shadows of the high tower out of blazing sun and driving
rain.
There you will find your new circle and home to carry on the ancient and
noble work. Take over our sterling round and toil, carry on into the new
century and beyond.
Be kind to those who work with you and guide your peeling.
Ring to God's glory, stir up the sluggish, bring joy to the city, waken the
dead, strike a happy rhythm and tune.
Australia's Oldest Bell
The bell is rung
I the oldest bell in Australia, greet you the newest bells in this land.
I am of Royal lineage, cast before the centuries turned 18, given by the
King to a motley Colony. My 206 years have seen so much that has changed.
I saw the steel of shackles changed into ploughs, and into these companion
bells that I have lived with for so long.
You new bells, like me are of English stock. You have many friends here,
but also in this land we have embraced those who have come from many nations
to join the first inhabitants of this land.
I have but a small body next to you, but I welcome you to my tower and will
watch over you from higher up. Please remember to respect your elders!
THE IDENTIFICATION of the New Bells
We, the stranger bells, have been made to carry on the work as the Bells
of St Jude's in Randwick. We seek to be part of the family and strangers
no more, so we have come today for Dedication by the friendly Bishop.

Hymn "Joyful Joyful We Adore You"
- Tune 'Ode to Joy' (Ludwig van Beethoven)
- Words Henry Van Dyke
Joyful, joyful we adore you,
God of glory, God of love;
hearts unfold like flowers before you
opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness,
drive the dark of doubt away;
giver of immortal gladness,
fill us with the light of day.
All your works with joy surround you,
earth and heav'n reflect your rays,
stars and angels sing around you,
centre of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
flowery meadow, flashing sea,
singing bird and flowing fountain
call to praise you joyfully.
You are giving and forgiving,
ever blessing, ever blest,
well-spring of the joy of living,
ocean-depth of happy rest.
You our Father, Christ our brother, all are yours who live in love
teach us how to love each other, lift us to your joy above.

Choir: "Ding Dong Merrily On High"
Rector: Three cheers for the new bells and all who made it possible.
Thankyou for your part in this day of celebration.
Refreshments are served for all to enjoy. Donation requested $5
Many have contributed to the cost of purchasing this new set of bells. Funding
from the Centenary of Federation Grants contributed over $41,000 to rebuild
the Bell Frame and began the whole process.
It became clear that the bells needed replacing at the same time and an appeal
was launched.
Many others have also given and worked for the goal and another $85,000 has
been generously given. Major sponsors for each bell have chosen a dedication
and wording for each bell.
The total cost of the project was more than $180,000.
We thank all who worked so willingly and generously to achieve the goal.
St Jude's is fortunate to be on of only ten ringing towers in Sydney, and
one of two in the Eastern Suburbs. Thankyou for your help in this rare community
event.
